Renting a bicycle in Skagen, Denmark

by Miriam

Hi, and thanks for your website! My husband, young son and I will visit Denmark next month and wish to bike for a few days from Skagen down the west coast. I wonder if you can recommend a bike rental company that would lease us bikes for a one-way trip (e.g. pick up in one location and drop off in another). Any advice you can give would be much appreciated--thanks!

Response: Miriam,
There are lots of bicycle shops in Skagen that rent bicycles, but seriously doubt that any of them will allow you to drop it off in another location. I would suggest that you rent the bicycles and travel down the coast and than board a train back to Skagen and return the bikes there. Assume you are going all the way to Germany, but the cost of the train ticket including bicycles is probably less than an extra fee to return them in another city.

Try Skagen Bicycle Rentals
... if they can not help you, they may be able to find someone who can.

Bike rental in Skagen
by: Rita

Hi Charlie: You commented that there are a lot of bike shops in Skagen and that they probably rent bikes. I tried the link you posted, but it's all in Danish. Can you help me find more information for bike rentals. My husband, myself and two more couples will be there in June of 2018 off a cruise and would like to rent bikes. Any help would be appreciated. thanks, Rita

Hej Rita,

Go http://www.cykeludlejning-skagen.dk/priser and there is prices and information about renting a bicycle in Skagen. You can translate the whole site by using google translate. Just copy of the url (above) into translate and the whole site comes up in english. You can email the business in english and they will answer your questions and make a reservation for you.

Renting a bicycle from Ribe to Copenhagen
by: Charlie

Karen,

Do not personally know of anyone who rents bicycle on a one way basis, but you should contact mail@ribecykellager.dk , which is the largest bicycle shop in Ribe and they should either be able to rent you a bike or tell you if someone else in Ribe does. Most bike shops that rent want their bikes returned to them at their shop. But they may have connections with other bicycle shops in Copenhagen that they work with - one can only ask.

Good luck,
Charlie

P.S. If you get so lucky to find you can rent one, let us know and we will let other readers know about it too.

I am hoping to hire bikes for a one way hire (Ribe to Copenhagen) - is anyone aware of any companies that offer this service?

It's true that you don't need the passport to cross the borders but, you do need a passport to identify your self to a police officer if they ask you.
