Pet travel question

by Alexia
(Nyc )

I’m moving from America to a part of Sweden that is close to the border of Denmark near Copenhagen airport. I want to bring my cats over with me from the USA and will follow the guidelines. However, the only airport in Sweden that deals with foreign pet entries is Stockholm which is a 6 hour drive from my soon-to-be home. Can I fly into Copenhagen following their pet entry rules and drive through to Sweden? Assuming I meet the pet entry criteria of both countries? I use Copenhagen as my main airport anyway.

Bringing Pets to Denmark
by: Charlie

If you follow the rules you can fly into Denmark, yet I do not know the rules for Sweden. I often see people with pets on the train to Sweden and they do not seem to have any problem, so I would think it should be feasible. I would check the restrictions for Sweden and Denmark are the same. There is free travel within Europe for pets, so can see no reason why not.

It's true that you don't need the passport to cross the borders but, you do need a passport to identify your self to a police officer if they ask you.
