Just some advice on driving licence in Denmark, I had a danish driving license, which I got when I was 18, so many years ago now, I also have an english license.
I got stopped by the police, showed my danish license, he said its no longer valid! I said I have just come back to denmark, and it says its valid to the age of 70, you have to have a new one, he took it, was told I would from from the police. In the meantime someone told us we could not use our english licence here, would have to buy a new one here, I thought that cant be right, went to our local Police station, the police officer said we could buy a new one for 250.00 Kroner, but I said to him, do we have to, and he said NO, and I had taken a copy of our english licence, and I wanted them to stamp it, just in case I should loose the original, because if you do loose it, it wont be easy to prove you had one, it would take a long time, as things do here, so better be safe.
so you can use your uk licence here.
Jane: You can use your UK licence here, but not your US one. I had a US licence on my first trip to live in Denmark and they exchanged it to a Danish one for free, no tests, nothing - just a simple exchange. That is not the case nowadays. When I got to UK, switched it to a UK licence, when I got back to DK again, they said I could drive on my UK one til it expired. Had an officer look at it in a routine police check during the "drinking season" and he had no problem with it. Still have a photocopy of my original Danish licence if I need to get another one anytime soon. Also you can drive on any EU license too. Might be cheaper to get an EU license than a Danish one : ). Thanks for the story, I am sure other expats will find it helpful.
