first I read from the airport to downtown you need a 3-zone ticket, then Under TIP I read as a couple buy a 2-zone klippekort.
Which card is correct then the 2 or 3 zone card?? Which is best for a single person to buy ?
FYI answer: Yes, it can be confusing. It all depends on how use of public transport you are going to use.
It is a 3 zone ride from the airport to central copenhagen. If you are traveling alone, than only the 3 zone would be practical but you can use either. I will try to explain.
First, a klippekort always has 10 klips on it and each klip allows you to travel in the number of zones it is bought for. For example, a 3 zone card will allow you to travel in any 3 connected zones.
If you have a 3 zone klippekort, you would use 1 klip to town and another klip when you return to the airport. This will leave you with 8 klips to use at other times. If you do not plan to use more public transport than the 2 trips, the klippekort is not a good buy since you are paying for 8 unused klips.
The 2 zone klippekort can be used, but it is best used with 2 people traveling. Since a trip from the airport to town, will be a total of 6 zones or 3 klips. (3 x 2 = 6). You would than be using a total of 6 klips for both trips if 2 people traveled together and still have 4 klips left to use during your stay.
Price of regular ticket is 36 kroner. If you use a klippekort the 3 zone klip is 18 kroner and if you use the 2 zone with 2 people the cost is 21 kroner per trip.
If you do not plan on doing more than just the 2 trips from airport to city, than buy a regular ticket at 36 kroner each way. The 3 zone klippekort is a total of 180 kroner (18 per klip) and the 2 zone card is 140 kroner (14 per klip.
I hope that helps, I know it can be a bit confusing but I have tried to explain it in more detail under the klippekort and tickets sections of FYI Denmark.
Get back to me if you have any other questions about this.
