Got a fare evasion fine in Copenhagen - what do I do?

by Tim

I got a fare evasion ticket and I'd like to either reduce it or figure out an alternative way to deal with it. I currently don't have 750 kr. to pay for it, my financial situation has become a little complicated since coming back. I read on this page https://www.fyidenmark.com/fare-evaders.html That a first offense results in only a 100kr fine. That I can pay, but is this true? Also, I will never be going back to Denmark in my life. I read the article on the site about fare evasion fees, but if I could get a little more guidance that would be awesome. thanks.

It's true that you don't need the passport to cross the borders but, you do need a passport to identify your self to a police officer if they ask you.
