I have a strange question. If I use my ticket for return, does the time count when I get on the bus? I mean, if I have 20 minutes left to use from my ticket but say the trip would take me 40, can I still get on the bus with the same ticket?
Answer: You can use the same ticket to get on the bus, but you can only travel until the time runs out. If you only get half-way, than you need to clip another ticket for the remainder of the time.
For example: If you were using a 4 zone ticket and had time to return part way, but had only travel through 3 zones, you would need a ticket for the remainder of the zones. The zone you are presently in is 1 zone and any additional zones you will travel through to get to your destination will also each count.
It is more and more common to find ticket checkers at bus stops and as people exit they check the time stamps on your ticket, so make sure you are finished with the entire trip within your allotted travel time. Some drivers will ask you how far you are traveling and may ask you to pay for the extra zones before you get on.
A good note when using bus passes. Always wait to the last moment to stamp your ticket. If you get a train platform and have 10 minutes to wait for the train to arrive, wait to you see the train approaching, stamp your ticket then. This will give you the most travel time.
Hope that answers your question. If not please give me an example and will try to clarify it more.
