Danish weeks

by Sara Applegate
(Florida)

It is not always the case that Danes require non natives speakers to use week 23 or week 42...It is exceptable to just say that you're going on vacation next week or the week after that:

ex) Jeg skal gå til Paris næste uge.
ex) I 2 uge, jeg skal gå til min Onkel's hus.

Response from FYI Denmark:

Sara,

You are correct that it is "NOT Necessary" to use the week numbers, but it is a common practice to refer to a week number when references dates.

For example, when I am contacted for shows (I am a professional magician), schools will say can you perform in week 36 and they expect me to know what dates those are.

The point of my post was to inform expats that it was a common practice and they should familiarize themselves with that way of thinking.

Thank you for your post and insíght.

Charlie
