Copenhagen Restaurants
Whether you live in Copenhagen or are a visitor, you will soon realize that there are 100s of Copenhagen Restaurants catering to nearly every taste. Dining from haute cuisine to fast food, Chinese or Mexican, intimate restaurants or outdoor cafés, cheap to expensive – there are so many places to choose from. Many you will never find unless you are told about them, since they may be tucked away on rooftops, down small side streets or in a basement.
You are always welcome to ask at your hotel or tourist board for recommendations. Talk to other travellers and even to people on the street. The Danes are quite friendly and will often direct you to favorite spots.

Last year a local paper put out a list of Copenhagen restaurants to help people experience more of the eclectic dining available in this wonderful city. Check out their list below, which includes restaurants, cafes and bars compiled by The Copenhagen Post. You can always search for them individually on the Internet for more details, but this will give you a good idea of the many places on offer.
Copenhagen Guide to Restaurants
Akvavit
Gammel Strand 44, Cph City; 11.00-24.00; 3332 8844
Nice view over the canals and excellent cuisine. Instead of having wine with your meal, try sampling their extensive menu of snaps (a traditional Danish alcohol and a specialty of the restaurant).
Al Mercante
Bredgade 29, Cph City; Open Mon-Sat 11.00-16.00 & 18.00-24.00, Fri-Sat bar until 02.00, closed Sundays; 3313 2911
Walking into the back rooms of Al Mercante certainly makes you feel like you have found a hidden secret in Copenhagen, as the two large back rooms of the restaurant are both invisible from the discrete facade on Skt Annæ Plads / Bredgade, just a stone's throw away from Amalienborg Palace. The food at Al Mercante is good, but as a venue it may be better for an office or family gathering, or with a few friends before a night out, rather than a delicate meal with your loved one.
Alberto K
Radisson SAS Royal Hotel, Hammerischsage, Cph Vesterbro; Mon-Fri 12.00-14.30, 18.00-24.00, Sat 18.00-24.00; 3342 6161
Altopalato
Duntzfelts Alle 3, Cph Hellerup; Mon-Sat 17.30-22.00 (kitchen only); 3961 9405
Altopalato is known as one of the most highly regarded Italian restaurants in town, but the heydays seem to be over for this - very busy - little restaurant. It serves rustic Italian food and has a good wine selection, although the food does not live up to the stiff prices. Make sure you book a table in advance, as this place is filled even on a Monday.
Amaranto
Solbjergvej 6, Cph Frederiksberg; Mon-Wed 11.00-23.00, Thur-Sat 11.00-02.00 (sometimes until 05.00). Closed Sundays; 3833 3810
The words “Cocina Mexicana” may conjure up images of your typical Danish-Mexican diner; i.e., plates of nachos, lame sombreros on the wall and cheesy music. Thankfully, Amaranto is no theme restaurant. A newish place in a former train station, conveniently located right next to Frederiksberg metro station, Amaranto serves nice (but not quite exquisite) Mexican dishes at prices on the high side. The elegant venue plays host to a variety of genres of live music including flamenco, soul, Cuban, jazz-Latin and more.
Aréna Café
Skindergade 20, Cph City; Sun-Thu 11-24, Fri-Sat 11-05; 3332 2720
Aréna is an unpretentious central city restaurant serving Lebanese specialities. The service and value for money are tiptop. A real find in the old city centre.
Atlas Bar
Larsbjørnstræde 18, Cph City; Mon-Sat 12.00-22.00 (Sun closed); 3315 0352
This colorful basement bar-café-restaurant serves excellent "world food" and is a favorite of the local trendies. Several vegetarian meals and generous portions; relaxed and friendly service. A must!
Auberge
Østerbrogade 64, Cph Østerbro; Mon-Sat 18.00-24.00; 3535 3900
Auberge is the latest and most upscale addition to the Cofoco coterie of good value gourmet food eateries. Located in the cellar beneath deli/take-away Le Marché on Østerbrogade, this little space attracts a mix of corporate types, Østerbro locals and couples to its six-course dinner (450kr).
Bacchus Vinbar & Bistro
Viktoriagade 8, (cellar), Cph Vesterbro; Mon-Thu 16.00-01.00, Fri-Sat 16.00-02.00; 3322 6797
Bacchus has a real bistro feel and is clearly the wine bar with the least pretentious and most authentic atmosphere. There are 400 different wines for sale, and around 40 different are available per glass. Trust the house to select wines if you don't know what to choose; they will do so genuinely. Few places in Copenhagen offer such exceptional overall value for money.
Bagatellen
Tivoli, Vesterbrogade 3, Cph City; 12-24 (Fri-Sat 12-01); 3375 0751
The restaurant is a beautiful circular room with an ancient look and a round patio overlooking the Tivoli lake; the setting is fabulous. A favorite of the business-hip crowd, the fish restaurant is quite expensive but the value for money is good for Tivoli.
Barbarellah
Nørre Farimagsgade 41, Cph City; Sun-Wed 10-24, Thur-Sat 10.00-02.00; 3332 0061
Barbarellah is the latest addition to the boho, laid-back Nansensgade quarter which is currently giving Pisserenden a run for its money in terms of hipness. The Latin-American Bascunan siblings Daniel, Pablo and the eponymous Barbarah are the creators of this cocktail bar/lounge/café concept and there is definitely some kind of “latin spirit” imbued in the place, from the beats in the background to the wicked cocktails. The food is decent and the kitchen closes at 1.30 at the weekend; refreshing in a city where it’s difficult to get something decent to eat after 10pm.
Barcelona
Fælledvej 21, Cph Nørrebro; 11-02 (Thu-Sat 11-05, Sun 11-22); 3535 7611
Lively Spanish café with a tiny outdoor service area and a very good traditional French/Spanish restaurant on the first floor. In the back, a small room with the DJ playing soul or R&B.
Bastionen & Løven
Christianshavns Voldgade 50, Cph Christianshavn; Daily 10.00-24.00; 3295 0940
Absolutely romantic setting: sit inside in an old mill or outside in a green, lush garden. Fine traditional Danish food. A Christianshavn landmark.
Beghuset
Strandgade 14, Cph Dragør; Tue-Sun 12-15 and 18-21.45, Mon closed; 3253 0136
Situated in Dragør, a cosy and fairytale-like fishing village just outside Copenhagen.
Bombay
Lavendelsstræde 11-13, Cph City; 16-23, Closed Mon; 3393 9298
Deep blue walls, Indian art and the simple decor make this place cool, collected and low-key classy. This Northern Indian restaurant accommodates more European tastes, with its mildly spicy and good value food.
Brasserade
Fælledvej 7, Cph City; Daily 17.30-24; 3536 4494
Brasserade is a restaurant with small grills on the tables. This gives the meals a special atmosphere, relaxed and casual.
Brasserie Degas
Jernbanegade 7, Cph City; Fri-Sat 10.00-03.00, Sun-Thur 10.00-01.00; 3311 0891
Traditional French restaurant completed with chic staff and high quality food. Brasserie Degas is also serving cafe food throughout the day.
Brewpub Copenhagen
Vestergade 29, Cph City; 3332 0060
Located near Rådhuspladsen, this is an ideal spot to enjoy your brew, on its own or with your choice of pub grub or an elegant two- or three-course meal (260kr, 315kr). Their beer menu features both in-house beers and an assortment of foreign and domestic microbrews.
Café a Porta
Kongens Nytorv 17, Cph City; Mon - Thu 11.00-24.00, Fri 11.00-01.00, Sat 10.00-01.00, Sun 10.00-18.00; 3311 0500
This stylish classic café/brasserie has a historic past and has been restored with high expertise by one of Denmark's famous families (Fabricius-Bjerre). The French menu has slowly given way to a more local Danish menu card. Prices agree with location and service.
Café Europa
Amager Torv 1, Cph City; Mon-Thu 9-23; Fri-Sat 9-24; Sun 10-20; 3314 2889
An institution in Copenhagen's café life and one of its most centrally located eateries, slap bang in the middle of the walking streets. Europa is pricey, but it attracts a real mixture of people, from tourists to trendies.
Café Kok
Rømersgade 25a, Cph City; Tue & Wed & Sun 11-22, Thu-Sat 11-24; 3393 6460
Bright basement restaurant with sharp design and a simple and short menu. Well prepared meals and sandwiches; menu changes every month.
Café Konjak
H. C. Ørstedsvej 46, Cph Frederiksberg; Mon-Thu 11-23, Fri 11-02, Sat 10-02, Sun 10-22; 3535 3552
As a café, Konjak is great; as a restaurant, it is nice enough; as a place to chill, it is awesome. Konjak provides a little bit of everything for just about everybody.
Café Marius
Nørre Farimagsgade 55, Cph City; Tues-Wed 12.00-23.00, Thu 12.00-01.00, Fri 12.00-02.00, Sat 11.00-02.00, Sun 11.00-16.00; 3311 8383
Café Marius is a gem of a café. Soft, jazzy music provides a mellow, almost grown-up atmosphere, yet it is refreshingly relaxed and unstuffy for a city center eatery. If you are hankering after that American touch, try the weekend brunch: a large plate of scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, a fresh toasted bagel with butter and jam, rye bread, heaps of beautifully-cut exotic fruit and fluffy, fruit-filled American pancakes. The homemade pasta is also a must-have.
Café Nani's
Finsensvej 18, Cph Fredriksberg; Mon-Sat 10.30-24.00, Sun 11.00-21.00; 3810 2202
This cafe is the only place in Copenhagen that can boast of over 35 water pipes. It could be mistaken for a hotel lobby in Cairo with its mismatch of Western and Egyptian paraphernalia. Don't miss the belly dancers every Friday.
Café Noakhali
Smallegade 22, Copenhagen Frederiksberg; Mon - Thu 10.00 - 22.00, Fri - Sat 10.00 - 23.00, Sun 10.00 -21.00 (kitchen closes half hour before); 3810 8686
The latest newcomer to the globalization of Copenhagen's brunch menu is Café Noakhali in central Frederiksberg. Noakhali is a very bright, attractive eating spot, which combines Bangladeshi and Danish influences. Try the vegetarian “Bangla brunch”, served daily from 10.00 - 14.00 and consisting of Bangladeshi specialities including chai tea and mango juice, fried potato strips (aloo bassi), tiny vegetable samosas and natural yogurt with muesli and coconut (narikel dhoi).
Café Oliver’s
Nørre Farimagsgade 63, Cph City; Mon-Thu 10.00-23.00, Fri & Sat 10.00-05.00, Sun 10.00-18.00; 3391 4555
Located on the busy intersection of Nørre Farimagsgade and Frederiksborggade, Café Oliver's is in the former location of café/bar Skurks. Although under new ownership since the first of August, the interior is virtually the same, with the typical pared-down and sleekly tasteful Danish design highlighted with high ceilings and big windows looking out on the busy crossroads. The crowd is an assorted bunch of trendy, upscale types mixed in with a more mature clientele. The menu is short but sweet, containing both the typical café classics such as burgers (85kr), nachos (65kr) and sandwiches (85kr), as well as Danish dishes such as fried fish (85kr).
Café Øresund
Strandvejen 343, Skovshoved, Klampenborg; Sun-Thu 10-23, Fri-Sat 10-02; 3964 4050
Øresund has something for everybody: the pub has a run-down sleazy atmosphere, and yet the restaurant is classy enough for a proper dinner with all the trimmings. The food is either very traditional Danish or haute cuisine, but tasty anyhow.
Café Sorte Hest
Vesterbrogade 135, Cph Vesterbro; Mon - Fri 12.00 - 24.00, Weekends 11.00 - 24.00; 3325 2008
Located at the end of Vesterbrogade, Café Sorte Hest (The Black Horse) is at the crossroads between Frederiksberg's mellow suburbia and the relative grittiness of the city's “West Side”. Former ballet dancer, Adrienne, is in the process of transforming Café Sorte Hest into a bijou cultural venue with poetry, art displays and a fortnightly jazz night. With its laid-back, cultural vibe and good value dishes, Café Sorte Hest is a decent, low-key neighborhood joint.
Café Stella
Kompagnistræde 18, Cph City; Daily from 10.00 - 22.30; 3315 1900
On the corner of Kompagnistræde and Knabrostrædet, just off the main walking street, the two-floored eatery is a good place to stop for a light bite or java jolt while shopping, or perhaps end the day with a burger, pasta or salad. Stella also offers a brunch buffet from 10.00-16.00 at the weekends (69kr).
Cafe Truffle Copenhagen
Vestergade 29, Cph City; Mon-Sat 11-24, Sun closed; 3313 1500
Stylish restaurant with charming courtyard in downtown Copenhagen. Café Truffle serves worldly food with great skill, taking inspiration from diverse places such as Africa, Asia and Europe. Expensive, but well worth the price.
Café Valhalla
Blågårdsgade 21, Cph Nørrebro; Mon - Fri 11.30 - 24.00, Sat 10.00 - 24.00, Sun 10.00 - 23.00; 3534 3647
Surprisingly, Valhalla is the first Viking-themed cafe in the city and looks set to become a cult classic. The lunch menu consists of sandwiches and main courses all named after the Viking gods, such as the Grendal burger (109kr) and a Gilling (grilled aubergine) sandwich (69kr). Order in advance if you dare try the Odin burger (299kr), a chunk of meat so large (1500 grams), it must be ordered a day earlier so that the bread can be specially prepared. If you manage to finish this meat-feast in under an hour, Café Valhalla will give you the meal for free - a challenge that has yet to be overcome. The café also offers Viking horns, belts and other gifts for purchase as well as an evening menu with Antipodean-influenced Malaysian swordfish curry (129kr).
Cap Horn
Nyhavn 21 Cph City; 11.30-01.00; 3312 8504
Famous old-fashioned rustic restaurant in Nyhavn. Always busy, Cap Horn was one of the first eco restaurants in the city; the décor is an authentic "fisherman’s inns" style. A classic, and reasonably priced for the area.
Caribbean Cafe and Cocktail Bar
Fredriksborggade 31, Cph City; Sun-Tue 10.00-24.00, Wed & Thur 10.00-02.00, Fri & Sat 10.00-04.00; 3312 9090
The Caribbean Bar's homely atmosphere captures the Caribbean spirit in its cozy and relaxed location next to Café Klimt. Tropical island details include drums in the corner, handicrafts decorating the bar and mellow reggae music. The large portions of food are fresh, tasty and good value. House DJ on Thursday to Saturday nights.
Castel
Gothersgade 35, Cph City; Mon-Sat; 3313 6282
Castel in Gothersgade was taken over by a team of French restaurateurs during summer 2003. The establishment is still splendid from its multi-million-looking renovation a couple of years ago (it was one of Copenhagen's finest restaurants before it went bust). The menu is certainly French, with côte de boeuf and chocolate mousse, but the renowned chef, Bertrand le Bras, takes influences from the whole world with savoir-faire. While both setting and gastronomy are top-notch, the prices are average / low for the introduction period of the new team. Grab the chance before prices catch up with the standards!
Charlottenlund Fortets Restaurant
Strandvejen 150, Cph Charlottenlund; 17-22 (Summer 12-16); 3962 2263
Fantastic panoramic view of the sea between Sweden and Denmark with outdoor terrace above the beach. Chic and prestigious.
Chili
Vandkunsten 1, Cph City; Mon-Sat 10.00-23.00, Sun 11.00-22.00; 3391 1918
Colorful burger restaurant and café, playing loud mixed music. Students and kids enjoy making their own burgers on their table, but really the service is so-so and it is rather overpriced.
Chips
Øster Farimagsgade 53, Cph Østerbro; 16-23 (Sat-Sun closed); 3538 4791
Charming café, restaurant and gallery with jazzy live events, bridge club and a little terrace, in a really quiet part of town. The restaurant serves every meal with potatoes, and the prices are as appealing as the atmosphere.
Christianshavn Bådudlejning & Cafe
Ovengaden Neden Vanden 29, Cph Christianshavn; Daily 11.00-24.00; 3296 5353
This floating platform, almost hidden under Torvgade, is known as the place to rent row boats to discover the Christianshavn canals independently - but it is now a very popular and charismatic outdoor cafe.
Circus
Rosenvængets Alle 7, Cph Østerbro; Mon-Thu 10-24, Fri-Sat 10-01, Closed Sun; 3555 7772
In one of Østerbro’s cozy little streets lies the Circus café and restaurant. The skillful décor of this tiny restaurant makes use of the building's original 19th century frescoes. Circus offers excellent lunch food and a good value dinner, with the intriguing Italian 'sushi' - fresh Italian ingredients made up Japanese style.
Cofoco
Istedgade 100, Cph Vesterbro; Shop: Mon-Sat 11.00-21.00; Sunday dinner: 17.00-22.00; 2144 0231
Cofoco, or Copenhagen Food Consulting, is not really a restaurant as such; it's more of a delicatessen, ice-cream parlor and sandwich shop, which conveniently serves dinner on Sundays. The prices are drop dead friendly, the setting glam and the waitresses good-looking. At 50kr, you can get a well-prepared meal to take home that would cost much more in a restaurant. A great value concept.
Cofoco le Marché
Værnedamsvej 2, Cph Vesterbro; Daily 11.00 - 20.00; www.cofoco.dk
Cofoco is a fresh team specializing in delicate food at very affordable prices. They started a couple of years ago with a Sunday only formula on Istedgade (with dinner take-away - only on Sundays - at 50kr). Now they run two restaurants: Cofoco and Les Trois Cochons. Le Marché is their newest venture, which opened in early March: a shop selling good take-away dinner meals for 50kr.
Cofoco Restaurant
Abel Cathrines Gade 7, Cph Vesterbro; Tue-Sat 18.00-23.00; 3313 6060
Following the success of Cofoco Sunday (Istedgade 100, Cph Vesterbro) that opened earlier this year, Cofoco (COpenhagen FOod COnsulting), is a clean, elegant and lively restaurant, located in a cellar in the heart of Vesterbro. The concept is a slight expansion on the Cofoco Sunday concept: an elegant yet unpretentious setting, elegant yet unpretentious cuisine, sharp and efficient service, three courses (two hundred kroner). Long tables where people dining in pairs sit face to face creates countless social interactions during dinner, with bread and mineral water exchange; an easy opportunity to meet new people if you are in the mood for it. Cofoco is really a find, and is currently buzzing, so booking is essential.
Columbus
Nørrebrogade 22, Cph. Nørrebro; Thu-Sat 17-23, disco until 05.; 3537 0051
Very good French-Danish restaurant overlooking busy Nørrebrogade; colourful and lively with nice service. Salsa discotheque on the first floor with a real salsa atmosphere created by the Hispanic community of Copenhagen.
Combo's
Nansensgade 24, Cph City; Mon-Thu 10-23; Fri-Sat 10-24; Sun 10-20; 3332 9565
Nansensgade is a place where tradition meets with an air of creativity and multi-ethnic diversity. Combo's is a new establishment that is already becoming a favorite with locals, blending café/restaurant/catering with outdoor sitting.
Cristal Palace
Saxogade 3, Cph Vesterbro; Mon-Sat 11.00-24.00; 3321 6152
Everything here from the red brothel-like wallpaper to the crystal chandelier and zebra skin by the bar speaks of decadence. It is a small taste of Paris in Copenhagen serving rustic French cuisine and generous portions at middle price.
D'Angelo
Store Kongensgade 44, Cph City; Mon-Sat 17.00-24.00 Closed Sunday;3393 6929
D'Angelo is an authentic Italian restaurant serving fresh and traditional Italian dishes. In addition to the restaurant, D'Angelo also includes a food cellar/deli, offering pizza, pasta and sandwiches every day.
Dan Turéll
Store Regnegade 3-5, Cph City; Daily 10-01 (Fri-Sat 10-04, Sun 11-01); 314 1047
Stylish with a hint of the Parisian, this is a funky, buzzing place to eat, or the perfect café-restaurant where you can spend some hours admiring some new fashion trends worn by its gorgeous patrons. It’s one of Copenhagen's oldest cafes.
Darling
Enghave Plads 9, Cph Vesterbro; Daily 10.00-02.00; 3331 8419
Fits right in with its location in the trendy end of Vesterbro with its own blend of cocktails, music and café cuisine. Cocktails, good selection of international beer and many visiting DJs. Try the bar's signature “absinthe and chilli” shot discovered one day by accident.
De Gaulle
Kronborggade 3, Cph Nørrebro; 18.00-24.00, Sun closed; 3585 5866
A chic little French place for the under-50 set, more funky than stuffy, in out-of-the-way Nørrebro. The set menu changes every two weeks, but the house specialty, fois gras, is a constant, and diners choose the number of courses based on appetite. An accompanying menu of wines is designed to bring out the flavors in each course.
Delicatessen Restaurant
Vesterbrogade 120 Cph Vesterbro; Daily 11.00-22.00; 3322 1633
Minimalist-style restaurant in a corner of Vesterbro with its own charm and local atmosphere. The menu is modern and international at a very reasonable price. The place can also get lively on weekends, especially for the DJ events on Saturdays.
Den Gule Cottage
Strandevejen 506, Cph Klampenborg (30 min north of Copenhagen); Mon-Sat 12.00-14.00 and 18.00-24.00 (kitchen closing at 22.00); 3964 0691
Facing the sea on the coastal road, Strandvejen, the Cottage offers its guests a romantic and personal dining experience with seating for only 28. The Cottage was built in 1926 and is famous for its first-class traditional French/Italian cuisine. The team at Den Gule Cottage keeps the standards of this landmark venue where they should be - at the high end.
Den Gyldne Fortun
Ved Stranden 18, Cph Østerbro; 3312 2011
Chic fish restaurant opposite the parliament. Choose your lobster from the tank.
Double Happiness
Gammel Kongevej 33, Cph Frederiksberg; 12-22; 3123 3667
Good little Chinese restaurant. Very good value for money.
Eat
Hovedvagtsgade 8, Cph City; Tues & Wed 18.00 - 22.00, Thu - Sat 18.00 - 03.00, Mon closed; 3333 9997
Hot spot for tasty eats and pre-clubbing, Eat is all black leather benches, dim lighting and lounge-y chill music. The food concept is tapas/tasting menu style, where you pay for a succession of small plates of accomplished and tasty food. If you can handle the level of trendiness, it's a good place for a few drinks, too.
e-go
Hovedvagtsgade 2, Cph City; Mon-Thu 11.30-24.00, Fri 11.30-02.00, Sat 11.00-02.00, Sun 11.00-24.00; 3312 7971
Opened in June by acclaimed restaurant Kokkeriet's owner, Mikkel Shafi, e-go takes over where the Olsen brothers' former restaurant “Egoisten” left off. Located just off Kongens Nytorv, brasserie e-go is smaller than you would expect from the outside, yet still very cozy with an unusual corrugated ceiling, a comfy, padded corner table and upscale, trendy vibe. The music adds to the atmosphere: sophisticated mellow beats, soul and easy listening. At the weekend, take advantage of e-go's wine/cocktail list and its late kitchen, which stays open until 1:30am; a rare treat here in Copenhagen.
El Mirasol
Dag Hammerskjolds Alle 7, Cph Østerport; 3542 9070
Situated opposite the American embassy, Restaurant El Mirasol attracts a mixed crowd of Danes and foreigners. The restaurant itself is fairly small and intimate with an old hand painted ceiling. It fills up very quickly at the weekends.
El Tapeo
Peder Hvidfeldts Straede 15, Cph K; Mon-Sat 11.30-24.00, closed Sundays; 3393 1166
El Tapeo is a simple but charming place, with wooden floors, unadorned walls and a low, timbered ceiling. Lit up with plenty of candles, it had a warm and welcoming atmosphere for couples looking for a cozy place to talk in, or for larger groups to do some socializing. You can drop in for an after-work plate of tapas and glass of wine, or have more substantial fare in the upstairs room.
Els
Store Strandstræde 3, Cph City; Weekdays 17-24; 3314 1341
Located at the corner of Nyhavn and Kongens Nytorv, this impressive restaurant is decorated with historic frescoes. Els serves fine French/Danish cuisine with very good service. Hans Christian Andersen was a regular here in his youth. Four-course menu 375kr, theater menu (served between 17.30-19.30) 195kr, wine from 198kr/bottle.
Era Ora
Overgaden Neden Vandet 33B, Cph Christianhavn; Mon-Sat Lunch 12.00-15.00, Dinner 18.30-24.00; 3254 0693
So many good things have been said about Era Ora that the actual food and wine is forced into defensive position. But the never-ending succession of fresh, light Umbrian dishes and perfectly chosen wine selection in this Michelin-starred restaurant cannot fail to satisfy expectations. Very simple combinations of food mean that quality ingredients are all given their moment of glory - the philosophy at the essence of Era Ora. One of the best (and most expensive) restaurants in Copenhagen.
Eugene
Vesterbrogade 83, Cph Vesterbro; Mon-Wed 11.00-24.00, Thu-Fri 11.00-02.00, Sun 10.00-24.00; 3325 1819
This little spot in Vesterbro offers good quality food for reasonable prices and a warm, welcoming staff. The interior could stand some redecorating, however.
Fabio Wine & Cheese Bar
Falkoner Alle 56, Cph Frederiksberg; Mon-Wed 16.00 - 22.00, Thu & Fri 16.00 - 23.00, Sat 13.00 - 23.00, Sun 13.00 - 20.00 (kitchen shuts one hour before closing); 3537 9977
Fabio leaves his home-cooking legacy behind at the award-winning Lagano pizza bar on Dronningens Tværgade. At his elegant, new neighborhood restaurant in Frederiksberg , the downstairs area serves as the wine-bar, where one can enjoy a few glasses of specially-sourced Italian wines and a casual plate of food, whereas the upstairs area will be dedicated to the full-blown dining experience.
Faergen Ellen
Takkelloftvej 1, Cph City / Holmen; Daily 11.30 - 21.30; 2946 5417
The panoramic view from Færgen Ellen is one of the best in Copenhagen, almost spectacular in that Holmen is the part of Copenhagen which has undergone the most tumultuous changes in the past five years. This small family-run ferryboat café-restaurant offers a Sunday brunch (125kr) where everything from the crispy potatoes to the homemade jam, in thick yogurt - not to mention the fruit shake - is excellent.
Fifty Fifty
Vesterbrogade 42, Copenhagen Vesterbro; Tues-Wed 11.30 - 23.00 (kitchen closes 22.00), Thurs-Sun 11.30 - 24.00 (kitchen closes 23.00); 3322 4757
A modern Japanese restaurant, Fifty Fifty aims to take the usual Asian-food cantina concept up a few notches, with imaginative fusion food and impeccable service. The result: a kitchen that can dish up good, solid cooking at reasonable prices while maintaining a relaxed but cool vibe.
Frederiks Have
Smalegade 41, Cph Frederiksberg; Mon-Sat 14.30 and 17.00-24.00; 3888 3335
This is a little pearl hidden away in the bushes of Frederiksberg Garden serving a Danish-French cuisine. The modern interior does not create that cold look found in so many new restaurants around town, but works well with the dark wooden chairs and colorful art on the walls.
Fregatten Sct George III
Tivoli, Vesterbrogade 3, Cph City; 12.00 - 24.00 (Kitchen closes at 10.00) ;3315 9204
A national symbol and cultural institution in the center of Copenhagen, Tivoli has an abundance of performances, concerts and restaurants in a magically lit setting. Since you are doing the theme park thing anyway, you may as well push the boat out and eat on board the twee Fregatten (the Frigate), located in Tivoli's willow-lined lake. The decent food, warm service and view over the incandescent gardens of Tivoli are the reasons to eat here.
Fuego
Holbergsgade 14, Cph City; Mon-Thu 18.00-01.00, Fri-Sat 18.00-03.00, club nights on weekends; 3313 1171
Fuego (Spanish for 'fire') specializes in Argentine meats and wine and also has a growing events calendar with quality club nights, live music and tango shows. The food keeps the pace: dishes such as the platter of guinea hen wrapped in bacon, king shrimp, crab rolls, and empanada (145kr) provide evidence of the cross-pollination of immigrant communities that has influenced the Argentine kitchen. However, beef is the cornerstone of Argentine cuisine and at Fuego the huge meat platters are top-notch. There is also solid collection of Argentine wines.

Restaurant Fyrskibet is located on a beautiful old red boat, just past the Nyhavn Bridge, and represents another venture full of good intentions for the area. Just when you thought that Nørrebro had reached the zenith of cool, with its recent influx of trendy bars and eateries, along comes a bunch of hipsters intent on building a veritable department store of coolness on Fælledvej. Gefährlich (German for "danger") is not merely a restaurant, bar, art gallery, coffee shop, clothes boutique, record store, cultural center or nightclub; it’s an out-and-out shrine to all things hip and happening. Very good food, with an emphasis on local seasonal produce. The upstairs restaurant offers a classic French menu.
Go Away
Amagerbrogade 7, Cph Amager; Every day 11.00-22.00; 3254 4496
Kate of “Kate's Joint” fame and a couple of other notable foodies have opened a new take-away spot just past Christianshavn on Amagerbrogade, serving fresh, home-made fusion food to take away. This culinary trio bring a blend of Indian, African, Mediterranean and Pacific Rim influences to the dishes on offer, which include stews, fresh salads, salsas, dips and other bits and bobs. We love the simple concept at the essence of Go Away; it's all about good, honest food to take away - cheap, delicious, hot and reminiscent of your mum's home-cooked meals (if you are lucky enough to have a superb cook for a mom).

Located in a gothic cellar, tucked away behind Magasin, is Kong Hans Kælder, one of Copenhagen’s ten Michelin-starred restaurants and a Danish classic. The surroundings are elegant, the service attentive, the atmosphere convivial and the Franco-Danish food exquisite.

Über-trendy Konrad is supposedly a tribute to restaurateur and designer, Sir Terence Conran, whose super cool restaurants are peppered around central London and Paris. However, it's not a case of form over content as the food, which plunders from the global kitchen, is very good, although the prices could do with a bit of slimming down. After dark, Konrad turns into the city's ultimate yuppie eatery/cocktail bar and nightclub with a reputation for attracting the beautiful in-crowd by guest list only.
Krogs Fiskerestaurant
Gammel Strand 38, Cph City; Mon - Sat 12.00 - 24.00 (Lunch served until 15.00); 3315 8915
Krogs does have a reputation for being one of the best restaurants in Copenhagen and 350kr for a three-course lunch in a restaurant that charges the same amount as a minimum for an evening main course is a bargain - of sorts. The elegant and subdued dining room has a touch of 'gentlemen's club' about it; it's a serious place and well suited to the business types who usually frequent it.

La Rocca
Vendersgade 23-25 Cph City; Daily 13.00-23.00; 3314 6655
La Rocca is quite a find: a family-friendly Italian restaurant where children are welcome, but the emphasis is placed firmly on the parents, with high quality food (and prices to match).
Lai Hoo
Store Kongensgade 18, Cph City; 17-22; 3393 9316

Langelinie Pavillion
Langelinie 1, Cph Østerbro; Daily 12-24; 3312 1214
Splendid view of the sea and just steps away from the Little Mermaid. French haute cuisine in the finest tradition. The Langelinie Pavillion was last reconstructed by legendary architect Vilhelm Lauritzen, and that in itself is something special. The cuisine is just an extra big plus. Perfect for an impressive business meal.

The concept is this: a café by day, restaurant by night, and after 10pm, you can learn to shake your thing, Latin-style, on the upstairs dance floor. The tasteful, candlelit interior décor with its wicker chairs and black and white photography creates a modern, relaxed atmosphere without being painfully hip. After dinner you can dance off the extra kilos with free salsa lessons.
Laundromat Cafe
Elmegade 15, Cph Nørrebro; Daily 08-24, Fri & Sat until 02; 35352672
Owned by a bunch of Icelandic geysers, sorry, geezers, the Laundromat Cafe is a laid-back eatery, attracting Nørrebro's local hipster types. You can chill with friends over a few beers, try some of their big, tasty food, or simply have a cup of tea while you put a load in one of the washing machines.
Le Le Caf
Vesterbrogade 56, Cph Vesterbro; Mon-Sat 12.00-22.00; 3322 7134

3322 7135
Lê Lê has long been a Copenhagen favorite and now, with its enormous new premises, it will reach out to the masses that should no longer have to wait ages for a table. Jazzy beats play at a reasonable level and the walls are decorated with modern art and graphics.

The atmosphere is cozy and elegant, with whitewashed walls, a statue of Jesus and countless icons. The prices have gone up to agree with the level of the establishment (it used to be a great bargain - now it's only one of the good quality classical eateries in Østerbro). Have a look at the impressive wine list and dream of a Rothschild at 3,500kr. Luckily the house wine is cheaper.
Les Trois Cochons
Værnedamsvej 10, Cph Vesterbro; Mon-Thu for lunch from 12.00 -15.00, and for dinner from 17.30-22.00; 3331 7055
For a relatively cheap but high-quality meal in a cozy environment, you could do a lot worse than Les Trois Cochons on Copenhagen's “food street”. Dishes include specialities such as guinea fowl with Jerusalem artichokes and braised beef cheeks (oksekæber). Les Trois Cochons is sister restaurant to Cofoco (Copenhagen Food Consulting), which offers the same deal with more choice of dishes and a table-sharing, friendly atmosphere.

New sushi spot on trendy Elmegade, Letz has delicious, fresh “fusion” sushi to take away. At first sight, it may look like the small portions won't satisfy your appetite, but in fact the portions are generous and the sushi is both tasty and filling, although not strictly traditional. If the weather's good, grab a box and eat it on Sankt Hans Torv.

The food is fresh and simple Italian and the service is friendly.
Lo Stivale
Godthåbsvej 8, Frederiksberg; Tue-Sat 17-24; 3810 3764
Lo Stivale's reputation as one of the best Italian restaurants in town is fully deserved. The alluring disguise of the classic Italian restaurant; an unassuming trattoria shopfront masks an orgy of fine food, gourmet wine and companionship on the inside.

One of the city's better-known restaurants, Peder Oxe is located on one of Copenhagen's most charming squares, Gråbrødetorv, or Grey Friars Square. Peder Oxe successfully blends a traditional eatery on the ground floor with a terrace facing the square and a popular wine cellar that turns into a busy pre-clubbing cocktail bar in the evenings. Its traditional Danish atmosphere and good food (particularly the meat dishes) make Peder Oxe one of Copenhagen's fail-safe restaurants.

A series of cozy and inviting rooms decorated in terracotta, open brickwork and funky art, Pegasus boasts both interesting nooks and crannies for intimate chats as well as outside seating for people-watching while quaffing your wine. The excellent range of dishes includes a large plateful (119kr) of your pick of their delicious tapas, plus fresh bread, garlic mascarpone spread, olives, pickles and other yummy bits and bobs. Operated by American Jon King, authentic touches such as burritos with shredded beef, real Mexican refried beans and King's own “queso blanco” cheese blend are a refreshing change from the norm. Vegetarians can also eat well at Qué Pasa, as King will gladly whip up nearly any vegetarian Mexican dish at the customer's request. The streets around Kongens Nytorv are already home to a myriad of quality restaurants, cafes and eateries, but until recently there wasn't much happening on the square itself. Recently, however, restaurant-café Quote opened its doors for the first time. It's a posh-looking place with a bar and café area, an upstairs with mezzanine-type seating and a side and back dining room full of big mirrors and classy décor, attracting upscale shoppers and local business people.
Rasmus Oubæk
Store Kongensgade 52 Store Kongensgade 52; Open Tues-Sat 18-22; 3332 3209
Rasmus Oubæk is a classically trained chef who headed up the kitchen at the two-starred Kommandanten as well as doing time at TyvenKokken, from where he poached his current commie chef and sommelier. His simple and classy restaurant, near Kongens Nytorv, is elegantly bereft of paintings and music, so the focus is on the food. Although its definitely not experimental cuisine, Oubæk serves sophisticated and “disciplined” food (in fact, the only noise you can hear in the restaurant is the constant beeping of timers in the downstairs kitchen). This is the full monty in terms of price, but the quality of the food, the subtle and attentive service and the intimacy of the space make is a good high-end choice for either a business dinner or intimate meal for two.
Rebétiko
Borgergade 134, Cph City; Mon-Sat 17.00-24.00; 3391 9125
A popular restaurant in the center of town, Rebétiko concentrates on quality ingredients and the provision of Greek classics at reasonable prices. Try the souvlaki - a range of tender grilled meats - and the rather good platters of calamari. House red 169kr, main courses 50kr to 100kr.
Reef´n´Beef
Jarmer´s Plads 3, Cph City; Daily 17.00-24.00; 3333 0030
With Australia being a continuing theme in the Danish media, we thought it would be a remiss of us not let the princess know what her options were here in town when it comes to good Aussie tucker. Mastering a balance between exotic and wholesome food is a challenge, but Reef´n´Beef goes to great lengths to demonstrate this.
Reinwalds
Farvergade 15, Cph City; Mon-Sat 14.00-24.00; 3391 8280
Reinwalds epitomizes casually elegant Franco-Italian and Danish cuisine in the city center. Not exactly buzzing in atmosphere, its sophisticated surroundings and attentive but not over-bearing service make it a good spot for that special occasion dinner.
Restaurant Agora
Melchiorsplads 3, Cph Østerbro; Tue-Sun 10.30-16.00 and 18.00-23.00, Mon closed; 3555 3141
Osti from Istanbul own this pearl of a Turkish restaurant in Østerbro. Forget everything you know about Turkish restaurants in Copenhagen, mostly consisting of cheap buffets. The small restaurant is situated in a discrete side street in Østerbro, with seating for around 20 guests only. With its light walls of painted bricks, wooden floors and ceiling decorated with a large chandelier and a fake star heaven, a fairytale atmosphere has been created. Turkish food that you will have to go to Istanbul to experience elsewhere.

Restaurant Biblioteket (The Library) is situated in a side street of the famous Nyhavn harbor, but it’s a bit harder to find than the usual tourist magnets of the area. It is also less touristy and cheaper than most of the other Nyhavn rip-offs. Biblioteket also serves open sandwiches for lunch every day, including two of our favorites: tartar and smoked eel.

Restaurant Dansk
Store Kongensgade 90 , Cph City; Mon-Sat 12-22 (closed 15-18); 3312 9631
Unfortunately, the original concept of Dansk, a smart and trendy Danish restaurant, just didn't seem to fly and it closed down almost as quickly as it opened last year. But the new year saw new beginnings with an overhaul of staff, a new chef and some renovation by the original architect. The concept is still essentially about Danishness – to provide traditional cuisine with a modern spin and an emphasis on quality and consistency, without necessarily aiming for the Michelin stars. The food is a bit on the pricey side but is unpretentious, rich and heavy-handed in a good way (if that's possible.)
Restaurant Extra
Østerbrogade 64, Cph Ø; Mon-Fri 11.00-15.00 and 17.00-23.00, Sat-Sun 17.00-23.00; 3526 0952

Restaurant Firenze
Landemærket 27, Cph City; Mon-Sat 17.30 - 11.00; 3333 7005
Restaurant Firenze has a stylish yet comfortable setting. Italian restaurants in the city are often of the “frozen dish, quantity over quality” variety, but Firenze stands out with its reasonable prices and high quality food.
Restaurant Golden Prague
Gothersgade 39, Cph City; Mon-Sat 16.00-24.00, Sun closed; 3391 4712
When entering Restaurant Golden Prague, it feels a bit like going to the home of the granny in Little Red Riding Hood. There are old pictures on the walls, dark wooden shelves with old books and wall-to-wall carpeting. Golden Prague serves large portions for a low price. The atmosphere is rather unique, but the food is nothing to write home about. This is perfect for a budget meal for big stomachs. Vegetarians beware.
Restaurant Gråbrodretorv 21
Gråbrødretorv 21, Cph City; Mon-Sat 12.00 - 24.00, Sun 18.00 - 24.00, (Kitchen closes 22.00); 3311 4707
Located on the picturesque Grey Friars Square, Gråbrødre Torv 21 is an elegant little restaurant with a lot of charm, few pretensions and very fine traditional Danish food. Even Danish cuisine skeptics will enjoy the food at Gråbrødre Torv 21.

Restaurant Koefoed opened in late 2006 with the aim of providing a “sense of Bornholm in the heart of Copenhagen”. With a focus on the quality products from this little Danish island, this may be the city's first restaurant that aims at providing regional food in this way and takes pride in showcasing the simple, good-quality local ingredients that can be found on the island.
Restaurant M
Store Kongensgade 56, Cph City; Mon-Sat 11.30-15.30; Thu-Sat 18.00-22.00, Sun closed; 3315 8577
Owned by 23-year old Stine Weber Marquart, Restaurant M is one of Copenhagen’s newest restaurants. The style is minimalist, but charming and welcoming. Whether this is due to the friendly staff or the small details like the colored water glasses, black napkins and the red lamps is hard to tell.

This Italian restaurant is tremendously popular among the locals for its lively feel and its cheap menu. Waiters literally run down the aisle between the tables every evening, and children enjoy the friendly staff and messy vibe. Don't expect much from the food, but it's ridiculously cheap.

Sans Souci is a truly authentic, old-school Danish restaurant, much comparable to Ida Davidsen's, yet intended for a different type of clientele. From the lamps and dark wood furniture to the pictures and portraits of the Danish personalities who have frequented the place since its opening in 1902, even the smell is redolent of a Danish grandmother's home.

Located near the sea and forest in the large yellow building opposite Charlottenlund beach, Skovridderkroen multi-tasks as a club and as a surprisingly good restaurant, serving a mix of Japanese and French food. Wine here is a serious affair as proprietor Jesper Boelskifte, who also owns the restaurant “Le Sommelier”, is president of the Danish Sommelier Association and ranked eighth in the world. Prices for a bottle range from 600 - 2000kr. There is a bi-monthly special where you pay 600kr for champagne, two courses, coffee, chocolates, wine and access to the club with free bar.

Perched on the corner of the intersection between Nørre Farimagsgade and Øster Farimagsgade, Skurks oversees the constant flow of cyclists, pedestrians and cars at this busy intersection at every hour of the day. It offers average café fare based around the grill concept, in a warm and lively atmosphere.

This small bar-cafe-restaurant is a magical combo of genres and styles, in the heart of Christianshavn, in a cellar along the romantic canals. Sofiekælderen became a local institution in the 1970s as a jazz-joint. A new team is giving the venue back its live-music feel, but with a liking for hip-hop and urban beats. Sofiekælderen won an award in 2003 as “best concert venue” in Copenhagen. Indeed, every Thursday, the live line-up is remarkable.

Spiseloppen
Christiania, Bådmandsstræde 43, Cph Christianshavn; Tue-Sun 17-22 (Mon closed); 3257 9558
Spiseloppen is a bit of a culinary institution in Copenhagen, being known as the one place in the “Free City” of Christiania where you can eat fine cuisine. The menu changes every day, as does the chef. We do recommend a visit, because it's a one-of-a kind venue, but some find the a-la-carte main courses overpriced. The portions are tasty and generous, so a single main dish or two starters should be enough for a full-grown male.
Sporvejen
Gråbrødre Torv 17, Cph City; Daily 11-24; 3313 3101
Designed as an old Copenhagen tram, this burger restaurant with its super nice outdoor terrace is calm and without pretension. Very good value for money and real burgers made of fresh ingredients.
Stefanos Delicatesser
Julius Bloms Gade 36, Cph Nørrebro;daily 09.00 - 22.00; 3690 6058

This place is always rammed with people, still after the initial sushi boom, because it's so good you have to keep coming back again and again. This is food with no compromise when it comes to freshness and taste.

Pappa Hotel holds parties every weekend, and there are volleyball nets, a dance floor and other activities in the 6000 square-meter area.
Strassen
Istedgade 128; Cph Vesterbro; Daily 11.00-24.00; Thu-Sat 11.00-02.00; 3322 3241
If you were blindfolded and dropped into Strassen without knowing where you were, it would take you six and a half seconds to figure out you were in the Vesterbro/Istedgade area. This laid-back café-bar was opened in February 2004 by the Bang and Jensen crew, with the intention of creating a younger brother next door to the famous Istedgade institution. Cheap and easy dinners in a lively setting.

At last – a self-proclaimed family restaurant which lives up to its title. Stuen-th does not just tolerate children – it has been created with them in mind. There are two play areas, one for the younger ones and one for 5- to 12-year-olds, complete with computers, television and table and pens for drawing. There's a child-size toilet in the ladies, miniature urinals in the gents and child versions of everything on the menu; all healthy, freshly-made and organic and half the price of the regular dishes.
SULT Restaurant & Cafe
Cinematheque; Vognmagergade 8 B; Cph City; Tue-Thu 12-22, Fri-Sat 12-23, Sun (café only) 12-22; 3374 3417
In a way like wining and dining on a luxurious film set, Sult offers a large and open space which calls to mind something between a Madrid bar/restaurant and an enormous Soho (Manhattan) night-spot. Large luminous plates on the wall impart to the premises a somewhat art-deco atmosphere.
SuperGeil
Nørrebrogade 184, Cph Nørrebro; Mon-Sun 8-02; 7020 8606
Super design spot giving a breath of fresh air to Nørrebrogade. Everything is just “Geil”: “Geil” means something between cool, funky, horny and show-off. The menu is easy Italian food with a lot of pastas and salads.
Sushi Saiko
Torvegade 22, Cph Christianshavn; Mon-Thu 11.00-22.00; Fri-Sat 11.00-23.00; Sun 14.00-22.00; 3295 0049
Open just two months on Torvegade – Christianshavn's main thoroughfare – Sushi Saiko is an enticing Japanese joint and a welcome alternative to neighboring eateries. The traditional and contemporary-style sushi served up in this cellar restaurant is painstakingly crafted and almost too-pretty-to-eat. Most Japanese meals are not regarded as easy on the wallet, and although Sushi Saiko is no exception here, to be fair, the menu is so extensive and price-varied, that it is actually possible to put together a menu to suit most purses.
Sushitarian
Gothersgade 3, Cph City; Mon-Wed 12-22, Thu-Sat 12-23, Sun 17-22; 3393 3054

Hip and classy restaurant on the ground floor of the Black Diamond, the new central building of the Royal Library. The waterfront restaurant makes for a superb setting, also with its own modern minimalist design. Søren K (K for Kierkegaard) serves high-quality modern cuisine and is a real pearl of a restaurant. Tapasbaren
Dronningens Tværgade 3, Cph City; Mon-Wed 11.30-23, Thu-Sat 11.30-24; 3336 0770
While Dronningens Tværgade's “Tapasbaren” may not seem overtly Spanish” at first glance, a very different impression emerges once you get past the bland façade. The true nature of the restaurant shines through when the food is served. While the Spanish way of eating is appealing in its own right, the friendly service at Tapasbaren makes it even more so. Tapasbaren is also worth a visit for a late snack before going out.

Taverna Philoxenia
Ravnsborggade 16B, Copenhagen Nørrebro; Daily from 17.00 - 02.00 (kitchen closes at 22.30); 3536 3640
Greece is a country with many charms, some of them in the kitchen; let's face it though, the words “Greece” and “gourmet” aren't often heard together. And that's what makes Taverna Philoxenia such a lovely surprise. Here, tucked away on a Nørrebro side street, is a restaurant offering food of a gourmet standard, in a pleasant, unpretentious atmosphere.
Tehran
Nørregade 22, Cph City; Sun-Wed 13-22, Thur-Sat 13-23; 3333 8020
Entering Tehran feels as if you're leaving Denmark behind; flamboyant, garish ornaments adorn the walls and atmospheric, Iranian music plays in the background. For 100kr you can eat three courses at this Iranian restaurant; it’s certainly not for food snobs or sophisticates, but it harbors no such pretensions. It does, however, provide reasonably priced, good quality food with authentic Iranian ingredients and is an interesting option for those wanting to broaden their culinary horizons ethnically as well as those eating out on a budget.

The observatory is open every cloudless Tuesday and Wednesday from 19.00 to 22.00. The rest of the week, The Round Tower is open as a historic sight and is Copenhagen's most centrally located roof terrace, overlooking the old city.
The Taco Shop #3
Nørre Farimagsgade 57, Cph City; Daily 11-22; 3332 8330
The three Taco Shops are a good port of call when you need some cheap eats and quickly. It may not be super-authentic (or even particularly spicy for that matter), but it has fresh, quick food that beats most fast-food joints hands down. Great nachos. Taco 27kr; Smothered Burrito 54kr.

thirty five
Gothersgade 35; Mon-Sat for Lunch - 11.30-16.00, Dinner 18-22. Fri & Sat until 23.00; 4585 3535
In an area with a dense constellation of Michelin stars, opening a new lounge/eatery concept is no easy feat. Newly opened restaurant/lounge thirty five is not necessarily going for the stars, but aims to provide a chilled but elegant space to either eat, drink or pre-party in their sophisticated lounge area called the living room. The food concept consists of a regularly changing tasting menu based on that good old '90s trend of Pacific Rim/fusion cuisine.
Thorvaldsens Hus

There is a myriad of nice cafes with outside seating along Gammel Strand with lovely views of the canal, but Thorvaldsen's is definitely one of the nicest. A classic gourmet restaurant, Thorvaldsen's is an elegant venue both inside and out with its scenic courtyard area. The service and quality are excellent and the brunch is particularly good value at 79kr for a big plate of eggs, bacon, sausage, ham and cheese, fruit and a chocolate muffin.
Top of Town Wine Bar
Radisson SAS Scandinavia, Amager Boulevard 70, Cph Amager; 3396 5858

Vestauranten DGI Byen
Tietgensgade 65, Cph Vesterbro; 17-23; 3329 8030

Floating gently next to Langebro, overlooking the “Black Diamond” Royal Library, Viva is moored in the perfect position: close to the city center, Islands Brygge and Christianshavn. High quality Mediterranean food based on a tapas or “tasting menu”.
Wanna B
Kompagnistræde 4, Cph City; 3313 3311
Located on Strædet, the cute walking street parallel to Strøget, Wanna B is the sister restaurant to nearby Zirup. This cozy bar-cafe has two dining areas joined together by a small bar area, all decked out in funky, stylish décor. The atmosphere is laid-back and the music policy is good, encompassing a wide range of soulful beats and pieces from contemporary R&B to palatable hip-hop. The walk-in crowd consists of couples and small groups looking for a bite to eat and a few bevvies before hitting town, but you would feel equally feel at home just lingering over a few drinks in the bar area.

A new, cozy space for coffee, beers and some serious food in the residential neighborhood between Tagensvej and Jagtvej, the concept behind Wascator's is to create a low-key, unpretentious and inviting space where you can eat a good meal with a beer for under 100kr, with the emphasis on quality ingredients and organic products. The two-room space has a friendly ambiance, fostered by the music (vinyl only and usually jazz, funk, soul and mellow hip-hop). A neighborhood eatery with a nice vibe and quality food at good prices.

Located in the “cute-to-the-point-of-twee” part of Christianshavn near the canals, and a few minutes walk from the former hubbub of Christiania, Café Wilder has the kind of friendly neighborhood feel that gives you the warm fuzzies. The menu is seasonal and changes daily but is always tasty and good value. Unlike so many of the cafés in Copenhagen, Café Wilder is not riding on its former glory and is a good bet for decent food at decent prices.
Wokshop

Excellent Asian food, to eat in or take out. Wokshop offers the best value we know of in the area; it's even a funky spot with minimalist décor. A must!
